Rose Petal Chocolate with Matcha Recipe

If you feel like having a nice, romantic tea time ,this recipe is good for you. As well as a nice and creamy hot drink, it's a beautiful color combination of matcha, rose, and white chocolate. The aroma of rose petals will make you feel something special, and be lovely for Valentine's Day.

Edible Rose Petals

Two types of roses are used for this recipe. These edible roses are grown organically in the rose garden in Okuizumo, Shimane.

How to Make the Chocolate Shape

I made the chocolates with a cube-shaped and a heart-shaped silicon mold. Soft molds like those made from are easier when you need to remove the chocolates, but you can use any type of container. Ice cube molds will be good, too.

Matcha for the chocolate Recipe

Put 1 tsp of matcha in a cup, and pour 60ml(2oz) water of 80°C/175°F. Whisk it for about 15 seconds. It will be perfect if you sift the matcha with a tea strainer when you put it in a cup.

If you feel like having a milder and creamier drink, add 100 ml(3.3oz) of hot milk to the matcha.

Rose Petal Chocolate Recipe

Ingredients

[for 8-10 cubes]

  • granulated sugar  2 tbsp
  • water   2 tsp
  • dried rose petals    2 tbsp
  • white chocolate chips or bars   250g (8.8oz)
  • cocktail sticks 8-10 for sticking, to taste
  • pearl sprinkles for topping, to taste

Instructions

  1. Place the water and the sugar in a pan and stir, and then heat until the sugar has dissolved.

  2. Add the rose petals to the pan, and stir until they are coated.

  3. Place the petals on a parchment paper, and microwave them for 10-20 seconds at 600W. Leave them until they're set.

  4. Melt the chocolate using the double boiler method. (Use two bowls to melt the chocolate.) Place warm water about 50°C/125°F in a bowl, and place the chocolate in another bowl. Put the bowl of chocolate into the bowl of warm water. Stir it until all melted.

  5. Pour the chocolate into a mold, and decorate with the rose petals and sprinkles if desired. Put sticks into the mold before the chocolate gets solid. Leave for a few hours in a cool place or refrigerator until set.

Enjoy!!
